Beginner Woodburning
In this class you can try your hand at woodburning. We'll start by practicing line work and shading, using different tips and heat settings. Woodburners will be provided, or bring your own if you have one. Participants will need to do the following by Friday, February 27:
1. Find a picture you would like to burn. The picture should include some shading or texture along with line work. It's okay to keep it relatively simple and small, especially if you don't own a woodburner to finish it up at home later (though you may be able to continue working on it in April).
2. Decide what size and shape of wood would best suit your picture, out of the following options:
- Small half-round that is 7" diameter (but 5" tall),
- Medium half-round that is ~8.5" diameter (also 5" tall),
- Or a square or rectangle that is 5" in one dimension (Kristi can cut it to your desired length).
See the photo of the blank half-rounds we'll be using; they do not have bark on any edges.
3. Print your picture at a size that will fit well onto your wood. If you'd like help sizing your picture, email your picture to Kristi and she can size and print it for you.
4. By Friday Feb. 27, email Kristi at kristiminahan@gmail.com to let her know what size/shape wood you'd like. Attach your picture if you need help sizing it. Also let Kristi know if you have a woodburner that you'll be bringing or could lend to another participant.
